The Story…

My involvement with chocolate began as a child while visiting Mexico. I never liked “candy” but upon tasting pure real chocolate while in Mexico, I discovered a food like no other!

I worked in the high tech industry in Houston and often traveled to Europe, South and Central America and Asia. On those trips, I visited small, out of the way chocolate shops where amazing chocolate products were available. “Candy” stores are all over the US but it is very difficult to find real chocolate shops…where passion drives the products that are offered.

In 2001 I began in earnest a journey of understanding chocolate, learning from the “experts” around the world and developing products that would delight discriminating consumers with adventurous palates. And so, now arrives RainDrop Chocolate Company! I hope you enjoy our chocolate products.

Building on a Tradition

From its earliest beginning in South and Central America, the native peoples complimented chocolate with other flavors. The Olmecs, Aztecs, and Mayans are known to have consumed great quantities of a chocolate drink spiced with pepper. They called it tchocolatl, the source for today’s word “chocolate”. Today in Central and South America, street vendors offer homemade chocolates with fruity and spicy flavors.

We at RainDrop Chocolate have set out to build on this tradition by searching the world for natural ingredients that when combined with fine chocolate will surprise and delight you.

Exciting Flavors

Much like fine wines, fine chocolate has hundreds of underlying flavor notes that depend on the type of cacao bean, where it was grown, and the seasonal growing conditions. Our goal is to compliment the nuances of our chocolate with interesting flavors from around the world.

We offer superb chocolate products enhanced with herbs, peppers, nuts, citrus and other fruits, spices, teas, liquors, coffees, and other unexpected flavors. And yes, we offer excellent pure chocolate products!

Our RDC kitchen is constantly developing new natural flavors combination and welcome any and all suggestions.

Hand-Crafted

All RainDrop Chocolate products are made in small batches. They are hand formed and hand finished. Even our unique bite-size TOT’s™ (Take Out Truffles) are all hand formed and dipped.

Because we do small batches, we can ensure our product is extremely fresh and has the richest flavor possible. Our product is produced daily in our own “chocolate kitchen” in Houston, Texas.

Premium Blended and Single Bean Chocolate

Our base chocolates are some of the richest and finest blended and single bean chocolates in the world. They come from carefully selected beans that are carefully processed to develop their unique flavor profiles.  Only in that way can we deliver a product that meets our exacting standards and those of truly discriminating chocolate lovers.
